July 24th....fireworks!!!!!

To celebrate our country's birthday, we, or rather Rick, spent an excessive amount on fireworks. Mark accompanied Rick on this firework binge, and all evening on the 4th of July all Mark could talk about was lighting his fireworks. Now the problem with this was there is a firework ban in our neighborhood, due to our proximity to the foothills, and the threat of a wildfire.

Well on the 4th of July by the time we got home from Stadium of Fire, we were tired and fireworked out. So we only lit off a few small ones, and one big one, after all we did not want to get busted by our neighbor, been there, done that already. Mark was sorely disappointed. So we promised him that we would go to Rick's house on the 24th and light off the remaining fire works.

Problem: They banned fireworks in Rick's neighborhood, same reason.....so we kindly imposed ourselves on some of Rick's friends, who live in the "hood," SLC to be precise, where no such ban existed.

Mark, trying to find the good stuff.

Lauren, she is a party popper girl.

Do you see the excitement?

Do you see the fear?

Katie was a fan of sparklers.....

as long as they were not lit.

Since Mark could not burn down our neighborhood, he tried burning down SLC. Good news, he was not successful.... Bad news, I am in soooooo much trouble when he is a teenager.
Mark's overall impression: "This sure is a festive celebration." Hopefully someday he can thank his ancestors for the privilege of lighting off fireworks on the 24th of July, as long as you live in Utah, of course.

Pictures of Katie crying are kind of hilarious and adorable. I can't believe she was afraid of sparklers. She seems to have no fear. And yes, you are in trouble when Mark learns how to make fire on his own.

Those pictures are so funny, I love how they show all their personalities! Yes, I think you would be wise to ban Mark from scout camp, he might end up burning down a latrine like Jeron did!
