4-H project #2

4-H project #2 was a casual dress. Lauren had to select the pattern, the fabric, cut out the pattern pieces, and then assemble the dress to resemble the pattern.

A comment left by my aunt on yesterday's blog made me laugh. She talked about my mother and her need to make sure all the seams were straight, especially on any article of clothing being entered in the fair. I have to admit that as I was helping Lauren the voice of my mother kept pouring out of my mouth, with phrases such as :

"Make sure you keep the edge of your fabric on the 5/8 of an inch line, other wise your seams will not be straight.

"If you don't sew it straight you will have to unpick."

"Be careful to keep your fabric flat, otherwise you will get a bobble."

"It has to be perfect, otherwise those judges will pick it apart, and you won't get a blue ribbon."

"Clip your threads, you will get marked down if you don't."

"Press all your seams flat, nothing looks worse than a bad press job."

Freaky......is all I have to say on this matter.

Here is Lauren surging her pieces.

Working on that good press job.

Sewing on the 5/8 of an inch line.

The finished product!

Very CUTE!!!

We almost entered the fair this year. Atleast we got the closest we've ever come...picked up the booklet, checked the date to turn in and then life happened. Guess we'll try again next year.

That's just cute.

And she looks so calm and peaceful as she sews and irons . . . .now THAT's a gift!
