She is a talker too.

Just like her cousin Kallie, Katie decided it was time to verbalize in words, that could actually be understood, her feelings, opinions, wants and desires. For quite sometime now I have wondered when and if this would ever happen. Lauren and Mark were both early talkers, so to have a baby that did not speak in clear and complete sentences by 18 months, seemed well, a little strange?

Its not that she did not communicate with us, its just that she wasn't speaking English, her mother tongue. Basically she squeaked and squallered like R2-D2 from Star Wars. Seriously. This has gone on for the last four months. I was beginning to think something was crossed in the wires if you know what I mean.... But she understood everything we said to her, so I figured when she was ready to articulate her needs she would.

And articulate she has. About 10 days ago she woke up and decided to begin speaking English, as words flowed from her mouth. Her favorite words are :

Please
Juice
Bye
Momma (my favorite of course)
Dada
Papa (grandpa)
Mamaw (grandma)
Mark
Laalaa (Lauren)

And the most favorite of all "Mooooo!" (long "o" when pronouncing) it means "no" in no uncertain terms and is usually accompanied by throwing her chest forward and her head back. The message is quite clear.

Too cute! I smiled when I read what she calls Lauren. When Jacob was learning to talk he called our Lauren "La La" and it stuck for a couple of years. It gradually got changed to "Lolly" which we still call her.
