Lauren's Baptism!

The invitation.

The program.

The girl in her white dress.

The girl with her grandpa

The table decorations.

Lauren was excited, mommy was exhausted. Its must have been Lauren's baptism weekend! for those of you who do not live in the fair state of Utah, they do baptisms very differently down here. I was expecting a stake baptism day, where you show up, the stake has a program and they everyone gets baptised one after the other. But no, not in UTAH. In Utah there is a stake baptism day, however you are assigned an hour "slot" on the day in which to conduct your baptism. And by conduct your baptism that means the program and the whole nine yards. I had to arrange for the bishop to conduct, a piano player, a chorister, talks, and prayers. Oh, and the baptism itself. Then of course there is the "after party"
I have been to a few down here that have been absolutely out of control. I decided I wanted a tasteful, simple affair. We will save "out of control" for Lauren's wedding. Lauren was lucky enough to have several aunts, uncles and cousins travel from out of state to just to be with her on her special day. And she did feel special indeed. She had a nice baptism and then everyone came to our house after for a light lunch.
Two things occurred on a funny note: Lauren and Grandpa had just entered the baptism font, when Kallie decided she wanted to be part of the action, and had one leg over the edge ready to get in when she was grabbed and whisked away by Arianne.
During the talk on the Holy Ghost, Arianne was explaining that the Holy Ghost did not have a body, but we know from the scriptures he has the likeness of a man. Mark spoke up and said loud enough for everyone to hear: "The Holy Ghost is a shadow of a person." That kid does not miss a beat.....

Tiffany, that looks like it was really neat! Lauren is such a beautiful girl. I can imagine that the day must have been stressful, but it looks like it went off without a hitch.

p.s. I LOVE the invitation and program! Spencer's baptism is coming up in August! I can't believe it!
